Now this is different and comes with an interest background. It started a few years ago now, and the small outfit behind it had a hard time trying to get any serious recognition for it for a while.
Like all good mavericks, they persisted and, bit by bit, it’s come to light. It’s now been featured in many a film festival both here and abroad and often turns up in strange places. I recall it being shown in a village hall in the Cotswolds and finally I have now caught up with it myself.
It tells the tale of a Dorset man and his devotion to Morris Dancing.; it’s his whole life. The film takes the form of docu-drama, as our hero Derecq Twist (Charles Thomas Oldham) is interviewed about the history of Morris by a television presenter (Greg Wise) who also wants to know where it belongs now.
The result is hilarious as Derecq is sacked from the group by grandmaster (Derek Jacobi) and so he sets up the new Morris, which leads him in turn to the USA and new adventures. This comedy from Twist Films is in the bag of “Spinal Tap and Best in Show”, why not Google it on Amazon and get it.
