Adapted From a short story by Scott Fitzgerald. This elongated movie resembles a modern fairy story or fable. Dumped on an old folks home porch & consequently brought up by the friendly matron. Benjamin Button starts out by being an ugly baby who resembles an E.T clone.
He’s born old, & proceeds to become younger, blooming into blonde & blue eyed Brad Pitt. The story unfolds via a very old Cate Blanchett, who is telling all to Julia Ormond who plays her daughter. We also have Brads voice over airing his diary. The whole thing is fascinating as we travel from 1918 through to Hurricane Katrina, roaring 20’s. The 2nd world war, the Beatles. Plus dreamy Brad & the ever-superb Cate Blanchett. 3 stars |
