Remix was sold out for its second Skins party. Teenage reporters Charly Luck and Laura Gregory interviewed two stars of the hit television series – Luke Pasqualino (‘Freddie’) and Jack O’Connell (‘Cook’) – to find out what it’s like to be a member of the cast.
Q Jack, you played ‘Pukey’ in the film This Is England – does he have many similarities to your character, Cook, in Skins? A Well they’re both male for a start! And yeah, kind of, they’re both cheeky and cocky, but Pukey was much younger. Q So is Cook a good fun character to play? A I love Cook, man - everyone knows one! It’s really fun to play his character. The guy makes me crease. Q What’s in store for Cook in the fourth series of Skins and will he still be competing with Freddie for Effie’s heart? A Skins man, they’re so random. I haven’t read the scripts yet - it’s crazy because no one knows what’s in store, except the writers! Q Luke, could you already skateboard when you took the part of Freddie in Skins, and are you at all like the character in real life? A I’d never done it before – I said I could skateboard before I got the part, but really I couldn’t! And I’m not really like Freddie at all! Ha ha… he’s nice like me though ;) Q Freddie certainly enjoys his spliffs… do you think Skins glamorises drugs at all? A In my opinion, people were doing drugs way before Skins was around. It’s unfair to make the programme ‘responsible’ for it in any way. Q Do you think Skins is a true portrayal of teenage life, and what do your mum and dad think of the show and the character you play? A Definitely! I know people who are like all the characters, and Skins is about real-life situations that teenagers go through. My parents really love it. They know it’s a job and that I’m just playing a character. |
