Twisted Wheel: TBC PDF Print E-mail

ImageNever have the words “A breath of fresh air “been so appropriate for a new band… Twisted Wheel is a three-piece band from Manchester named after a Northern Soul nightclub… I’m sure the name Oasis comes to mind so let’s get that out of the way straight off… TW sound nothing like them. This is a refreshing full throttle, pop out, pop in, soul / R&B album. Thank god for that… It’s been such a long time that a band came along that you really feel yes they will rise.  The first track (Lucy the Castle) is a very ‘this is the modern world’ sounding single… Just brilliant … (She’s A Weapon, We Are Us, and One Night on the Streets) is the full throttle – pop out vibes I was talking about. (Strife, Let Them Have It All) has got that real Tom Robinson story telling 1979 feel to it. (Bad Candy, You Stole the Sun) just makes you want to jump around until the neighbor’s ring the police… (Bouncing Bomb) great acoustic ballad. The last track on the CD (my stand out track) is the Who’ish (What’s Your Name) slow builder that still only comes in at just under four mins…  This is one of the best albums I’ve heard in a while… Maybe it is time to dig the new breed. 5 stars
